Road Trips – Esperance

After our short but interesting stay in Kalgoorlie we headed south to Esperance. Now we’ve seen some pretty bloody beautiful spots in this state but everybody said, “oh wait until you see the beaches around Esperance!” I was thinking oh yeah right, can’t be possible . . . . oh my giddy aunt!!!! Stunning is the only word I’ve got. You can go either direction, head West and you go along Twilight Beach Road and you can literally follow the road past bay after bay of stunners! The wind farm is pretty impressive and you can actually get right up close and see these beauties at work. If you head East you drive round to Cape Le Grande National Park but that’s for another day!

What a lovely little coastal town. Next time we’ll stay longer and take the camper trailer and the bikes. The foreshore has all been developed and it’s just lovely with a nice long bike track to take you around the place so you don’t need to drive around town. We jagged an amazing weekend of weather but it does get very cold here so Summer is the time to return.

On the very long drive home we did a quick detour to see Wave Rock. Yes it’s interesting, yes bus load after bus load of tourist pour in there and take selfies galore, yes it costs you $10 to park in the car park . . . . get my drift! If you are driving past, it’s worth stopping quickly to have a look but it’s in the middle of frickin nowhere so you wouldn’t drive the (at least) 3 hours from Perth to see it and then turn around and drive back. But this is totally my opinion!
